The automatic allocation of course places applies to courses that are subject to registration and where the course places must be allocated to the participants by Friedolin. The places are randomly allocated. Therefore, the time of registration is not important (see also When should I register for courses?). The automatic allocation of places takes place on two fixed dates immediately before the beginning of the lecture period (see Dates). Only students that have applied for the course by the respective date are considered in the automatic allocation of course places.

In the 1st automatic allocation of course places, as many places as are specified under Number of Students presumably turning up are randomly allocated.

Between the 1st and 2nd allocation of course places, teachers may manually edit the list of participants, e.g. by admitting further students.

In the 2nd automatic allocation of course places, the remaining places are randomly allocated. As many students as specified under Upper Limit for Number of Students 2nd run are admitted to the course.

Outside this period, it is possible at any time for the teacher to manually admit students to the course (see also How does the manual allocation of course places work?).
