The requirements for submitting a leave of absence application are that you
- are enrolled as a student,
- select the current or a future semester,
- upload the required supporting documents (e.g. medical certificate, proof of time abroad) and
- confirm that the information you have provided is correct, as this is mandatory.
How to submit the application
Log in to the portal by entering your University Computer Centre user ID and password in the two login windows at the top right of the dark blue title bar on the start page.
Click on the Requests tile.

Select the Leave of Absence application and create a new application.

Select the reason for your leave of absence.
Enter data and upload supporting documents
- Select the semester for which you wish to apply for leave of absence, either the current semester or a future semester. If you apply for leave of absence for multiple semesters, a separate tile is created for each semester.
- Upload the required documents. Uploading the documents is mandatory if this is configured in the system. Optionally, you can add comments for our student services.
- Confirm that the information you have provided is correct. Without this confirmation, the application cannot be submitted.
- Submit the application. After submission, the application can be viewed under Service. It is possible to edit the application if it has been returned to you (processing status: Request for revision sent back).

You will receive information about the application, further documents you are required to submit, and changes under Service.
You can change the documents you have submitted if our student services have asked you to do so.
It is possible to submit further documents, provided that a deadline for submission has been set.
Certificate of leave of absence
After approval, you can generate the certificate of leave of absence under Service. The certificate does not show the date you downloaded it, but the original date of issue.
Note on fees
The application for a credit balance refund or exemption from the semester fee must be submitted separately.
